Workshops

Our group workshops can cater to children, adolescents, adults and staff that can make puppets of themselves (or a character they want) and learn to operate and puppeteer through them. This will be done step by step with guidance and supervision by Big Debz (& Little Debz) and our volunteers depending on the group sizes. This involves drama, games, team building exercises and we can adapt to any themes our clients/collaborators wish. Part of process can involve relationship exercises on how to use these tools to breaking down barriers surrounding the stigma of mental health and helping the individual with their own personal issues or anything they wish. Some examples of themes we have covered is bullying, anxiety, depression, relationships, empathy, etc.

Other options can include creating a short scene/film about an issue that is important to them. At the end of the workshop the participants can keep their puppets and copies of films they have worked on. The final product is finished puppets and a finished film, created by the participants.

Big Puppet building workshops

These workshops consist of making big 'muppet' style puppets per person and they get to decorate them and can make them look like themselves or someone they know/or a character. Then this would follow Drama, games, and role playing.

Can also be themed if the venue/client wishes such as educational or mental health and well-being related. Usually, these workshops cater to 7 years and up to adults.
These workshops can be up to 2 hours in total including clean up and can be a one off or can do several/performance classes with the same group. This also can involve puppet film making.

In terms of numbers/bookings 10 spaces but we can push this to be 15 but this can depend on the risk assessment for the venue and covid guidelines if it was in person.

Hand Puppet making workshops and storytelling (which could also involve storytelling or be one offs)

These workshops consist of small hand puppets per person and usually these can animals or little people characters and are made from the left-over materials of bigger Puppets (more eco-friendly!)
These workshops cater to 3 years and up.
These workshops can be up to 1 hour in total.
Or if you prefer it to just be making it could be just a drop in making session for the public.

And for more than one session if can be a rotation of different characters/animal's puppets. But can also make a little puppet show box/home for them all in the end (if it was a returning summer group.)

In terms of numbers/bookings 10 spaces but we can push this to be 15 but this can depend on the risk assessment for the venue and covid guidelines if it was in person.

But if this was online, we can do packs and either drop them off or post them to people locally/pick up from the venue as an option. (Postage might be a bit extra cost)

Optional: Me and Little Debz will can also do some sensory storytelling at the beginning and then a craft activity will follow. We can also arrange an activity like a treasure hunt as part of the whole session.

Recycling Puppet and craft making workshops (which could also involve storytelling or be one offs)

These workshops cater up to ages 4 years and up as well.
These workshops can be up to 1/2 hours in total.
Or if you prefer it to just be making it could be just a drop in making session for the public.

We are also adaptable and can cater to the needs of our clients such as age group, abilities and health and safety. The format of the workshops can be flexible as one off's, lunch time clubs/after school session, half days, and an Interdisciplinary Lesson Plan for sessions as a six week block are available as an option or as many sessions as preferred. We can also offer our services to additional support needs groups within the school. We are community based and mostly work with support groups, health care workers and organizations, charities, schools, community centers. But we are happy to work with anyone and everyone who wants to be creative and likes puppets.
